Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives

Workplaces are naturally diverse, some more than others.  It is important that workplaces, administrators and managers acknowledge and embrace the various aspects of their diversity.  From cultural diversity and state or federally protected categories, to generational diversity, to different communication and decision making styles.  Bellingham Mediation helps workplaces, organizations and educational institutions identify possible issues and opportunities, and brainstorm types of initiatives to complement and enhance your diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

Initiatives Sheri has helped organizations create include:

  • Equity & Inclusion Commitment statement in employee handbooks
  • Training component for new employee orientations
  • Monthly newsletter highlighting diversity awareness and celebrated months (black history, women’s history, Hispanic heritage, gay pride, world Human Rights Day, etc.)
  • Training employee leaders to foster workplace affinity groups and meetings
  • Facilitating dialogues, trainings and listening sessions
  • Establishing a monthly brown bag lunch discussion series around diverse topics
  • Policy & procedures audits, drafting and training
